Discussion for William Ewing Of Sterling

William Ewing Of Sterling

William of Sterling should be regarded as legendary. There are conflicting accounts of him. By many accounts he was actually the grandfather of the immigrant siblings with their father being another Willian, called William of Glasgow. It is even open to doubt that the immigrants' father was named William at all. Jis name is derived from an account by a great-grandson who did not seem sure of the name and certainly had no first-hand knowledge of the man. The great-grandson also asserted that the family came from the vicinity of Stirling Castle, which is why this William is known as William of Stirling.

Whether this person's name was really William or not, the relationships of his children are confirmed by their documented interactions in America.
