Know ye that William N. Arthur a Corporal of Captain Lomax Company D 1st Battalion Alabama Volunteers he was mustered into the service of the United States on the 14th day of December 1847 to serve for during the war with Mexico is hereby honorably discharged by reason of Surgeons Certificate setting forth that the said William N. Arthur on or about the 18th day of January last while in the service of the United States became the subject of rupture or hernia which has continued to increase and become worse up the the preent date and which entirely incapacitates him from doing service requests that he be discharged fromt he Army.
Said William N. Arthur was born in Barbour County in the State of Alabama, he is 21 years old 5 ft 8 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair and by occupation a Sherriff when enlisted.
Given at Orizava, Mexico this 28th day of March 1848.
