Kinship Terms Used Here

Cousin

Cousin, as used here, is a relationship in which people have some of the same ancestors but are not related by a more specific relationship.

First Cousins

The children of siblings are first cousins. First cousins have exactly 2 grandparents in common. The child of one's aunt or one's uncle is one's first cousin.

Half First Cousins

The children of half-siblings are first half-cousins. Half first cousins have exactly one grandparent in common. Thus, first half-cousins have exactly 2 great-grandpartents, which is, genetically speaking, no closer than second cousins.
