George did not seem to have a position on the Eighner / Eighnor spelling question, but when his name does not appear as something ridiculous, it is usually recorded as Eighner. However, for the brief time she had the name Minnie Hering used Eighnor and Eighnor was passed to their son Birchel Lee Eighnor.
For the most part, George shows up in censuses in other Eighners' homes. It is easy to miss his only marriage and child because they never all show together in the census.
George married Minnie Hering in 1894. She was not quite 15, and this was probably an eyebrow-raiser even back in day because George was in his late 30s. Birchel was not born until 18 months later.
Minnie shows up as Minnie Eighnor, 19-year-old divorcee, at one of her brother's home in 1900. No account of where Birchel was in 1900 has been found.
